Picked up a couple of coins recently that have been on my list for quite some time.

Phoenician coin

As much as I dig the cool devices on Phoenician coins I never did pick one up until now. Neat double animal and cool Greece meets Egypt type thing with an owl holding a crook.

Couple-Of-Things-Checked-Off-The-List

Phoenicia, Tyre, AR 1/24 shekel. 393-310 BC

O: Dolphin

R: Owl with crook and flail.

BMC 5

9 mm, 0.9 g

Siglos

I've also never pickup up this classic, an Archaemenid siglos. Seems like kind of an ancient coin that really should be in a "affordable greatest hits" of the ancient coins collection like mine.

Couple-Of-Things-Checked-Off-The-List

Achaemenid Kingdom, Silver Siglos, 375-340 BC

O: King running right, holding a dagger and a bow.

R: Incuse punch

Carradice Type IV

15X11 mm, 5.5 g

Good additions and I agree that the Siglos is iconic as well as generally affordable. The Gold Darics of this empire are much less affordable.

Siglos is a must have I'd say. Also as Spence says much more affordable than a Daricm which is an important type well respected at the time and even allowed to continue over 100 years after Alexander because it was so successful.
