It's not a smooth flat surface.
There's indentation in it. If it's not a DDR then it is some crazy MD.

I just got a digital magnifier and wanted to know if this is what I'm supposed to look for?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

@the, the doubling is extreme, but step-like and reduces the width of the letters so my vote is MD also.

Yep, MD. Notice the 'normal' thickness at the bottom of the letters, then how thin they get near the top where the die has been worn down.

On a DD, the devises would be thicker, on your coin they are thinner which indicates MD.
