Possible Error In 1972 Kennedy Half Dollar?

I recently noticed something odd on a 1972 Kennedy half dollar, and I'm hoping that the experts here will be able to advise me concerning whether or not it's relevant. As you will see in the attached photos, there is no mint mark in the usual place on this coin, but there is something resembling an upside down / backwards D floating between the I and the B in "Liberty". Before exploring this further, I guess my first question would be: Would this sort of misplacement even be within the realm of possible errors for this type of coin? Thank you for your help!! I'm aware that no mm indicates production at the Pholadelphia mint, I'm just wondering if that D could possibly be a mis-positioned Denver mint mark. I know it's a long-shot, but thought it was worth asking about! I tried to upload more than one photo to my original post, but I'm brand new to this forum and failed to figure out how to do it.
