Hi, I was looking through some American coinage I had laying around. I found an interesting Lincoln presidency cent. Not sure if this is anything to keep, but look interesting. What are your thoughts should I keep it? I have no American coins in my collection so far. Although I also found a "b I e" 1956 p

It does look interesting, however Can you back up the image a bit please showing the front of the profile, correctly oriented, it's hard to tell what we are looking at.

A clear, full coin shot of the obverse and reverse, cropped would be good too. My first though was misplaced metal and seeing the whole coin may answer that.

We need to see a wider show also to show what we are looking at? Looks like a device on part of the design area. This can't happen normally. It may have been added to the top of a device as a transfer from another coin. If it loose it could be a debris flake off another area of the coin. Or a transfer off an edge of the an incuse area of the Presidential designs? Counter stamped coins: But the affected area on the die is a lower area part of the design. (highest point on the coin most likely a hit from another coin) If it were a die issue, all the other devices would be showing, not just the single area affected. Sometimes we see parts of a dropped letter, but that would be incuse on the coin. So the question is, is that area raised, on incuse (lower than the design) on that area?

It does look incuse. So it maybe a device transfer from another coin. Which would be coin damage.

coop , so that would make it worth less because it's considered damaged?

Face value. Damaged coins are worth face value. When they are real bad the banks return them back to the mint to be canceled and recycled.

Knowing the information I have learned I wonder if it's not a portion of the 2 in the 2009 date transferred to this coin. But anyways regardless it's not worth more than a penny?

Is the "2" raised or incuse?

Looking at first picture. From here It looks raised comparing to the slices on the forehead and nose.

It's raised. Sorry my pictures don't do it justice. I'm still learning how to navigate the site and take good pictures & crop them properly etc.
