All the SMS Kennedy's (sans the 64) are all relatively common, even in high grades. There were several million minted, and the most common graded coins are in MS65/66. A coin in this condition is worth about $8-$12.
It's still common to find silver Kennedy halfs in this condition, due to the hoarding of silver in the 60's I presume? just walk into a coin shop and ask for their bag of 40% ers, dig and you would almost certainly find some nice ones.
Even though it's not rare, so to speak, still a nice coin! Acetone is [usually] harmless to silver coins, as it only reacts with organic material - I would give it a try!
