Well I've got a 1987 D penny that seems to have plating blisters but since I'm so new at this wonderful and exciting hobby I want to learn everything I can from the great pros on this forum. I would love to be educated on why and how this happens and the true name of the anomaly. Thanks again for all the amazing input.

You got the terminology correct. The obverse is showing bubbled plating blisters (could also be termed linear plating blisters). The reverse is showing a lot of small plating blisters (or bubbling) as well. Instead of me trying to explain it to you, look at the glossary here on the forum. It should explain it to you. I have not looked at the glossary here so I'm not sure. If not, go to error-ref.com and type it in. It will explain it to you. Good job on the diagnosis.

I agree. You might be to push on the blisters with a wooden toothpick.
