Greetings one and all.

For those that don't know me, I specialize in modern coins. Mostly Lincoln cents and, more recently, errors.
I've cherry-picked a few varieties over the years and some were slabbed. I'm not one that enjoys sending more money to the grading companies but was getting frustrated at putting my chicken scratching on tape on the slabs. I plain got tired of seeing my sloppy handwriting on a piece of tape or sticker. Plus, the glue residue remains if the sticker needs to be removed.

Others may have hit on this idea before but I haven't seen it posted anywhere. It's an inexpensive, clean way to add the variety number to the slab that isn't permanent (in case there is a need to remove for any reason).

So I decided to use clear labels to add a variety designation to some slabs. It takes some playing around and experimenting with placement but looks good with the clear label, and with a little more effort, it can look even better.

Here's an example. (Notice the left side of the strip. I've turned the label on itself to make it easier to remove if need be.)

I'm always looking at maximizing savings to put into more coins, but keeping things organized and neat (with my collection anyway )

Do any of you have ideas that might work as well or better?
Please share them if you do for others to consider.
Thanks in advance.

It sure beats writing directly on the slab with a sharpie!

Only thing I might add is possibly the use of a Brother label maker. You can get clear tape and you can choose from dozens of fonts if I remember correctly. If you type in your first line of info, hit return and finish typing, the letters will stack on one half inch wide tape. It looks very nice and professional. It's what I use to label dates if an album falls short.

I like this "Brother Label Maker" idea as well. Seems very similar. I'll have to look at that, but it boils down to how much space is left on the desk (or office) for another piece of equipment. Clear labels work on my PC but I still have to store the labels and then I have to load them into the printer.

Your idea seems like it might keep things simpler.

I second the Brother label maker with clear tape idea. Various fonts and sizes works well. Quick phone pic, but I've used them in my albums as well, for additional pages like my 2F Buffalo page and anytime I've added an RPM, DDO, DDR, etc.

I've thought about having my girlfriend use her Cricut and cut out a vinyl page but seems very labor intensive with the smaller print. I'm sticking with this until a better looking idea comes along.

Couple example pics.

Thanks for those images Ty2020b. I like the labels.

They show the clean look of the Brother labels.
(I've seen some of your "Two Feather" finds you've posted about recently. Congrats on those.)

They've worked well. Also worth noting: They stick well enough to never have fallen off, but if I have to move anything around, they can be removed without pulling up the color/coating on the Dansco pages, and leave no residue.

( And thank you! )
