Hi Montgomery
If I was going to put a label on that one I would call it LC-48-C1..the chocolate brown colour makes me lean towards a copper ..LC-48-C2(brass) the brassy yellow usually tones black so that is why I went I the direction I did based on your pics
For a couple of dollars I would have grabbed that one too!

Looks like an LC-48C2 (assuming it's brass), counter clock wise wreath.

That's Courteau variety 3 which has a rarity of R3 according to Courteau. The so-called "Silly Head" obverse is pretty unmistakeable. Charlton groups that variety together with a few others as LC-48C2.

As for the St. Lawrence River Hoard, here is a post I made regarding the subject a little while ago (http://goccf.com/t/401168).

I haven't learned much since, but I still remain interested in the topic!

Is it hard to find one coming from the Prescott/St-Laurent hoard?

It's not that difficult Montgomery, and they're easy to spot due to the color they have from the cleaning process that was applied to them. The Bust & Harp examples are slightly easier to come across than the Tiffins. Check out my response to your email for more details.

For reference, here's an example of Co 1 (TF-1) which is an LC-48C2 from the hoard.
