2021 was a big year for me coin collecting wise. Was able to complete the proof ASEs. All I need now for another collection is the 1928-P Peace dollar to complete my Dansco album. Besides that, need to work on finding a better way to store my coins instead of sitting in their mint boxes which is very bulky and filling the safe with unnecessary volume from the mint boxes. Aside from that, just keep an eye out and see if anything catches my eye.

Quote: 1. Trade a Liberty Gold $20 for a St Gaudens Gold $20. Might happen this Wednesday. Nothing wrong with a head start! Might have to post that update to the 2021 topic! Quote: 1. Finish my Ike slabbed PCG set. I made progress in '21 but still have a few coins to go and one or two I'd like to upgrade. Quote: I know, I know... Quote:@ january1may , are you sure you don't want anything else ? I know I probably want other things too, I just couldn't think of anything specific offhand. Quote: january1may- Post some pics of your 7070 when completed! If I ever manage to complete it I will surely share pics! But the two Seated dollars are absolute stoppers - and even if I somehow do get any I'd probably end up having to crack them out of slabs.

I live in the US and only have one of the two, I cannot imagine how much the difficulty increases being in Russia! I was very lucky to get the no-Motto raw at a coin show. No way I would have bought it without holding it in hand first. If I find the motto dollar online, it will certainly be in a slab that will be cracked. But I do hope I can make it to another coin show in the future.

Quote: I cannot imagine how much the difficulty increases being in Russia! I've only got the Morgan because I've got it as a gift! Though I just checked Numismedia and apparently they do cost $30+ now and it's not just me being cranky so maybe I'd end up getting some more. (I did pay nearly $30 for my Peace dollar, but at the time that was actually under spot.) To be honest the 1853 quarter and half might be even more ridiculous long shots than the CC mint coins, but who knows what I'd get; sometimes Russian coin stores randomly have seriously underpriced coins because the dealers don't know (and/or don't care) what to look for. I bought a semi-key 1901-O Barber quarter for under $3 a few years ago.

Same as every year, to add at least one more piece to my early date large cent variety set. I've been successful the past two year, hoping to keep the streak going.

My goals for 2022 are in part a continuation of 2021: 1) Continue with my ATB silver proof set if the price of silver drops substantially below $20/oz. 2) Pick up cents, "stuivers", "dubbeltjes", "kwartjes", "rijksdaalders", and commemoratives for a good price to slowly complete my Kingdom of The Netherlands Type Set. 3) Wondering about collecting crown-sized 18th century silver coins from Europe. Silver ducats from The Netherlands look nice, but may switch to other jurisdictions. Ordered the book "German Talers, 1700-1800" by Davenport to see if anything piques my interest.

Pretty simple goals for 2022- 1a. Learn more and more about the hobby, mainly about errors and varieties as I understand what they are and how they are made, but IDing them can be pretty tough.
1b. Learn more about currency. Since I first became a collector in 2018, I've really on focused on coins, but I want to start learning more about U.S. currency as well. (Anyone have any good books/sites they can point me to?)
2. Keep working on my sets.

At jacrispies, I can definitely share my current date run from 1839-1856, it is just I have more than 1 of the earlier types if the 1839 large cent, just haven't got the one I am looking for, and just need the 1857 (either small or large date is fine by me)

mrwhatisit- I am also working on a set, although it is low on the priority list. I stash a few in the holes every now and then. I always enjoy looking at ebay's current listings of completed large cent sets, just to view the coins. Even if they aren't stunning coins, they are history and history is fun. Good luck on the hunt for the 1839 and 1857!

Having completed my Poland OFEY 1507-1795 to the best of my budget last year, that one drops off my list for 2022. So ...
1. Add early dated coins or coins attributable to a specific date from the 15th c. (similar to @j1m's goal). I am missing 4 years in the 1480s, and then most dates before 1470. As a minimum, try to get one per decade that can be attributed to a specific year (I am missing 1430s and 1410s). The "guardrails" on this hunt are to keep within my existing collecting themes (Low Countries, coins with images of saints, Poland) 2. Same goal for 14th century (and earlier if possible) where I am missing 1390s, 1350s, 1320s, 1310s. 3. Continue to selectively build my collection of coins with images of saints. I would really like a large-ish medieval Saint Nicolas, but these are very expensive and come from only a couple of obscure places, as best I can tell (canton of Freiburg, and Dchy of Brieg) 4. Continue to build the Numista catalog for medieval Low Countries. I got involved in this in the second half of this year, so it wasn't on my 2021 goals. A great educational opportunity for me, but still a lot of work to be done.

Work on getting a nice Liberty Quarter Eagle, Half Eagle and Eagle Gold type coins. 2. Photograph hundreds of duplicate Jefferson nickels and sell them. ( I say this every year ) 3.
