1941 Lincoln Wheat Cent / LWC Roughed Up Doubled Die Reverse / DDR

SilverCents Pillar of the Community United States 3281 Posts	Posted 12/16/2021 07:31 am Was looking through some old coins for a second time, and I came across this. It's actually in decent condition, as in, the sharpness of the devices, but the coin itself seems to have been harshly cleaned or something around that nature. I do believe this is a DDR, as the devices of E PLURBIS UNUM and ONE CENT are significantly thicker, the S and Us especially. Edit: Actually I might be wrong in reference to this being a DDR. I didn't realize this before but there appear to be different dies/designs for this year, as in on the majority of the 1941s, the back devices are thin, but on a few I just now came across, they're somewhat thick like this coin. Or perhaps it's just the wear of the die. Ah well, it's a learning lesson for me. I'm honestly not sure if this coin is even identifiable. Any suggestions? The woody does not help, it tends to distort the dies attributes, making it even harder to tell. -makecents- Report this Post to the Staff

That and combined with the smudge left by (what I assume to be a minor cleaning), it's a tricky coin. It might be best for me to just keep this one unlabeled. Report this Post to the Staff
