1881 S Morgan For Grade - And - Is This A Pl, DMPL Or Not?

Coinstrike Valued Member United States 100 Posts	Posted 12/16/2021 2:05 pm When I saw this at a local coin store yesterday, I had to buy it. I don't think I'm much of a coin grader and would welcome feedback on a grade for if. It's difficult to capture when these are in a plastic case, but this has the appearance of a cameo proof. I'm hoping it's PL or DMPL. I spent hours on trying to VAM it, and it looks like there are more hours ahead on that, but really wonder what you would grade this and if you think it's PL, DMPL or not. dave700x Rest in Peace United States 10625 Posts	Posted 12/29/2021 3:21 pm Don't wear yourself out trying to VAM an 1881-S. This issue can be one of the toughest to nail down if you don't have a smoking gun S/S mint mark, VAM-1B or VAM-54B ( VAM of the year btw) Of the 10 examples I have only one I have been able to attribute as a VAM-13, an S/S.
