End of the year means I am sorting my box of 'stuff' I picked up in 2021. This one came from an auction sometime over the summer. It is a 1944 1-cent, which unfortunately suffered from a cleaning a long time ago.

It is struck on a tapered edge of strip, weighing 3.06 grams. The only error of this type I have. So, despite the old cleaning (and not bright and shiny Mike!), this one is definitely a keeper!

I wonder how many pockets and hands that coin has passed through before someone realized that it wasn't just a damaged coin and plucked it out of circulation.
