Hi my name is Karl and I live in NY, way up at the top north eastern part. I've been collecting coins for around 29 years. I have sold or spent the coins I have collected early on, but a few years ago I started to collected again and have built up a nice collection.
United States Pennies(cents) are my favorite.
For storage I have many coin folders, coin tubes, coin flips, jars, and also a tackle box to hold loose cents, coin rolls, proof cents, key dates, errors.
For examining coins I have a swing type lamp with led bulb, has a large magnifier on it but I just use it to light the surface where coin is. I use a handheld 35x50 magnifier made in Germany to view coins. I also have a USB microscope for computer but I don't like it cause it doesn't work very well.
Coins that I collect:
Flying Eagle cents,
Indian Head cents, wheat cents, old nickels, dimes, quarters, I am collecting all years of S proof Cents, I have 2 sealed sets of 2009 p & D satin proofs from mint, BU coins go in a flip, I have error and blank cents,
Wide AM cents, I have every
Wheat cent except 1909 s vdb, I have 1909 s, 1931 s, 1914 D, 2 1922 no D. I also collect all Canadian small cents, collection almost full.I have a jar of miscellaneous foreign coins.
I like to collect MD and
DDD, I think the doubling looks really cool and it was what I originally though was a double die and I would pay good money for them as others think they are worthless. I also collect double dies, grease filled, die cracks and other errors.
How I get my coins: I check coin star machine return cup, I find change on ground, I search threw change back from stores, I buy boxes of rolled pennies from bank, I buy coins from an antique/flea market and I buy the rest on E-Bay. My favorite is to buy cull wheat cents on E-Bay to search for key dates.
All the change that I went threw and do not keep gets brought to a coin star machine near me.
I am here to give help, advice, my opinions, to make new friends, to learn and ask questions.
