Nice job of seeing that through the circulation wear - Not rare though.
That being said, the mint mark does appear to be in the right place but, the O of ONE doesn't seem to be oblong between 10 & 11 as it should be.

So you don't think this is DDR-001? Or are you just saying it's not a rare variety?

Quote: So you don't think this is DDR-001? Or are you just saying it's not a rare variety? I believe he might be saying that the circulation wear is not rare. Or he could be saying that your skills of being able to see through such circulation wear are not rare for you, because you're so good at doing it. (If he is saying that, I agree completely!) Could be wrong though, not sure. Anyway, spectacular find! I'll be honest, if this was one of the dates where it had a list of DDRs, and there was even slightly more circulation wear, I probably would've not have gone through with trying to figure it out. Brilliant job!

Nice find and congrats. This variety is fairly easy to see when it's in hand. IMHO, because there aren't any other DDR's for this year buyers tend to look at the obverse for a DDO or RPM but don't look closely at the reverse, if at all. (What's odd is that when I've come across one I usually come across a second example within days. This has happened 2-3 times.)

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the very kind words SilverCents! When you see it in hand, as Pete mentioned, it's easier to see. I don't save a lot of the lighter wheat cents DDR's I find but when it's a die 1 or a strong variety then I'll keep it. -CH27
