Indian Head Cent Wrong Planchet? - Coin Community Forum

Alex Swanson Valued Member United States 74 Posts	Posted 01/23/2009 8:48 pm I have an Indian Head cent that is a silver/nickel color. The date is 1883. What is the cause of this? Is it a wrong planchet error? It weighs in at about 2 grams and is thinner than average. It is also slightly off center. I will try to put some pictures up as well to help figure this out. Conder101 Bedrock of the Community United States 17884 Posts	Posted 01/24/2009 10:02 pm It's well worn, and has a hole in it. That explains a lot of the weight problem. Looks to have been cleaned which could explain the color. (On my screen it has the typical color of a cleaned bronze cent.
