How do I tell the difference between extra metal and a scratch? I looked at this line off planet to the left and in one direction it looks like more metal and another way it looks like scratch. Also does this coin look like the type 1? (For those of you that may know the planet and islands off of Florida too me it looks type 1.). Oh and 1 more thing it weigh is off a smidge landing in at 22.5? What's up with that is that due to wearing off if of the metal through the last 50 years?

I believe the types you are referring to are the three Philadelphia types so not relevant to a Denver issue. It does look like a scratch. I'd say the weight variance is within normal tolerance

Yes I agree with that linear mark being a scratch. The metal looks "smushed" up on both sides of the groove.

Agree, Looks like a circulation hit/ding/scratch, or a comet about to impact in the Pacific Northwest.

Looks like a hit to me as well. (A comet?) lol my be a meteorite as it burns in through the atmosphere..
As for the Type I, II, and III - Yes they pertain to the Philadelphia mint only. The Denver has only one type so does not count as a variety.

I concur with it being a scratch and the three varieties applying only to the 1972 Philly issues.
