I have a 1993 quarter that has a groove completely around the edge a perfectly centered. Is this and error or normal.

without a picture it is hard to tell, However I'll venture a guess that is is from a Coin Wrapping Machine creating this damage.

We need full, large and sharp photos to understand what 'chevy' is referring to. Sounds like mechanical wrapper damage, but need to see images.

The coin sat in something like an acidic liquid and it ate away at the copper core.

Quote: The coin sat in something like an acidic liquid and it ate away at the copper core. Are you referring to the coin posted up above? If so that is not the OPs coin. Bobby posted it as an example of what it could possibly be. We are still waiting for the OP to return with a picture (If they do at all.)

Chevy had posted photo into a new topic, which I merged into this one just minutes before Dearborn replied. He may have loaded the page before then. Happens to me all the time.

The coin has been damaged by acid unfortunately, not an error.

The last photo that Chevy posted is an acid coin, not an error but considered damage.
