1997-D Lincoln Cent Double "d" Mintmark?

Dmil070182 New Member United States 27 Posts	Posted 12/28/2021 8:19 pm Hello community, I am fresh to the world of coins and have mulled over numerous books acquainting myself to the various coins and their varieties and errors. While looking through some of my loose change around the house, I found this 1997-D Lincoln Cent. It failed to be the DDO Double Ear cent. But upon closer inspection of the photos I noticed something that I couldn't find on Google. It looks to me that the D mintmark is doubled. Any thoughts? Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 12/29/2021 11:17 am Well RPMs stopped in 1989. Since 1990 the mintmark is part of the design of the die. But I don't see a doubled die on that area. So it is not a variety coin. The mintmark shape looks altered.
