I have this coin. I believe this is 'Severus Alexander Denarius. 222 AD. IMP C M AVR SEV ALEXAND AVG, laureate, draped bust right / P M TR P COS P P, Jupiter standing left, holding thunderbolt and sceptre. RSC 204.' RIC5. Picture is below.

More than likely genuine and yes, it has been through a lot. Also, looks to be clipped at the bottom.
