I just started getting into ancients and medieval coins and ended up with six of these Byzantine cup coins. This is also my first attempt at getting detailed photographs of concave coins, so hopefully the lighting and detail aren't *too* bad. If I have to take more, I can. Hopefully 3-4 can be identified with the photos here, then I'll try to get better images of whatever is left.

The seller took this photo, but unfortunately only the one side of each. Below, I'll include my own photos and in the text underneath each, what I think they are based off of looking at wildwinds.

I think this one is SB2011.

This looks like SB2003 to me.

Could be SB2026?

These last three I have no idea yet.

These are Bulgarian medieval imitations of Byzantine coins from the end of the 12th and the beginning of the 13th century. Degree of rarity - R 1 - thousands of them have been found. They differ from the Byzantine ones in their smaller size, poorer quality of workmanship, poor quality of the metal (copper predominates) and spelling errors in the inscriptions. https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=3039678

Interesting! So about how old are they then? Why did Bulgarians make copies of these? I paid $10 for the lot, so I figured it was worth the chance. What should an authentic example cost?

The 'Bulgarian' hypothesis for a class of imitative trachea was originally postulated by Michael Hendy. You can find his explanation in the Dumbarton Oaks Catalogue Vol.4, part 1, beginning on page 46. You will also find a number of examples listed.
