I just went through both if these on my Peace dollar collection and just the NGC on my Morgan collection and now wondering how to interpret the totals that I am getting. Is this the average price I should be expected to sell my coins for, or then average that I might expect to pay, or is it the average price seen on auction prior to the (up to ) 20% buyer's fee.

I'd appreciate anyone's comments. If it makes a difference, my Peace collection is in grade 64 and most of my Morgans are UNC with a half dozen obvious exceptions.

Thank you

The price guide values are averages of auction results. You may get close to what is listed, but it is best to use those prices as rough guides.

My understanding is that auction results usually excluder the buyer's commission, but not entirely sure on that.

I believe those values are a market analysis of coins in their own slabs. Also, often times it's more of a full retail value and you may not realize quite that much selling yourself. (But markets are wacky and their guides even on US stuff can be months old, so if the markets have continued to climb, maybe your reality today is more than they show.) - ebay sold items is the most up to date snapshot of the current market.

PCGS' guide reflects the pride they have in their plastic.

NGC' guide is at least mostly sourced from NumisMaster. That's the old Krause/F+W Media data, sold during the 2019 bankruptcy auction to Active Interest Media (AIM) along with Numismatic News. It seems to have taken a couple years to get this spun back up, you can now (I haven't) subscribe to NumisMaster directly.
