I have never encountered this many errors/varieties on a coin. I see a die crack, die chips and a possible cracked planchet. Is that what I call everything or is there something more serious going on with this die event?

The die should have retired long before this coin was struck, heavy die fatigue indicating the die was quite deteriorated.

Nice die crack coming off the bottom left of Monticello plus plenty of circulation wear on a nickel struck with tired dies. I'm not seeing a cracked planchet or die chips though.

Besides the die crack as mentioned, I'm not seeing any chips either.

This is the reverse of a normal Jefferson nickel. You guys and gals must not look at to many nickels.

I see a warn die on an warn coin. die crack and die chip I do not discuss, been far from my views for coins varieties or dies aging.

In the post is mention an possible cracked planchet. "Vestige" ? where approx. you place this on your coin? In general matter the cracked planchet on nickels is accompanied by an delamination of the nickel.

An MS 67 PCGS

If you compare the MS coins which show very well all the design, thinking that the core is 75% cooper and the rest is 25% nickel, and also thinking that the nickel was applied to the core before the strike you will come to the conclusion it is no cracked planchet.

What you see it is normal incuse line in the die design.
