Found a coin in the jar that stood out because of the yellow tone.. almost a dull gold. It also has a pattern imprinted along the rim. Rim is also showing copper on the face of the rim. Anyone have any info? See anything? Thanks in advance!!
. I agree with natural toning, but I think the damage along the rim is from a machine at the mint that seals the plastic film over an uncirculated set. John1
I agree with environmental toning. I also agree with the mechanically-caused damage. We've seen similar coins posted on the forum. In all my years of collecting I've seen a few still contained in 'damaged' mint cello packaging with those rim grooves. I believe those few were from the 70s.
Quote: Does that make it special on any kind of way of just a damaged coin?
Just a damaged coin even though it happened at the mint before it was released, but as mentioned it is a mechanical damage caused by roller machine, but it is a good educational piece. Looks like you find my Dimes Twin
