I saw this coin up for sale on ebay for a low value of $50, which is too low in my opinion for this piece. My guess is that it is counterfeit, but what got to me was the "wear" that's depicted on the obverse. Is it possible today that counterfeiters can produce a coin to have that "look" that age naturally imparts on a coin? A little troubling personally to think about, especially if the technology is available for these criminals and that this problem will not be going away anytime soon.

I'm suspicious at how uneven the wear is - the lettering to the left of his nose looks like a VG coin and above his head an EF one. I know weak srtikes can take place, but this just doesn't look right.

The coin looks rather suspicious. As NumisRob said, the reverse wear is uneven. The left side is more worn out than the right.
