Looks like it has taken a hit above the first R and pushing the metal towards the second R.

Keep in mind, that surface scratches don't always affect the incuse device. When it does that deep, then it can affect the device. But on this coin is is just a surface scratch.

This coin is showing a contact mark so deep that the bottom of the incuse device was affected. Often rotating the coin 90 degrees will show this better:

So coop are you saying this Harper's Ferry is a Surface scratch that caused this? Also please take a look at the tower on this Harper's Ferry. please let me know what you think about this coin, http://goccf.com/t/414461

The devices are below the fields. A scratch on the coin only affects the surface of the coin. The devices are not raised.
