Hello,

Here is another coin I came across tonight. I have not bought it yet - learning from my last mistake - and I cannot find much on it. It is priced at about $52.

I didn't weight it or measure it, but it is probably 12-20 g and about 20 mm.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Chris

Ok, so admittedly I am poor at this . . . but I found a close 1 1/2 soldi - Milan 1250-1310. However, the figures staff and some relief detail is slighty different.

Any other leads?

And . . . there was a replica - of which this one has some similarities - made in the 70s....

No. Not 12-20 . . . I held a few of coins today and might be mistaking it . . . but I don't think it was 2.09 g. that would be paper thin.

I cannot see the auction results, but is the price $52 OK? Any reason to think this coin is fake?

Yes, every reason. It's clearly the reproduction linked above. Note:
"These reproductions are all identical and a distinctive feature are the two depressions in the upper edge of the reverse (waves above the saint's head)."

The silver wash is worn away revealing the base metal below.

Have you tested it with a magnet?

It is funny how once you learn something, you see it everywhere.... Since I saw this coin I have seen at least one other 1970s reproduction. The curve at the top of the obverse is a dead giveaway...
