How-Much-Do-You-Think-This-1911-Error-V-Nickel-Is-Worth?

I just won this at an auction and I don't want to admit what I paid for it yet. Just need some others to say what they think about it and how rare it is.

Thank you for reading!

Appears to be post mint damage, not an error.

to CCF!!!

This is a major delamination. Not sure of any significant additional value. I would like to see a photo of the reverse as well.

Need to know the accurate weight.
It could? be an old lamination error.
If it is, it should weigh less than standard.

What was the auction lot description?

However, it appears to be post mint impact damage.
If the lot description is proved to be incorrect, you are eligible to receive a refund.

Estimate of value doesn't mean much until investigation complete.

It is for sure a lamination issue; they come about on V nickels every so often, and depending on the market, can bring up the value by just a little to certain collectors. Seeing the reverse would also help here . I too have a 1906 V nickel with a lamination flaw.

It's a lamination and a pretty large one at that. Specialty collector coin with not to much interest. Finding a buyer would be hard, especially if a premium is added. I would be happy if someone paid me $5 for it in that condition. Hope you didn't pay to much, although if you like it for your collection then it was worth whatever you paid.

Yes, a quite large delamination. The lower section shows the back of the neck and hair curl.
I'm not sure how the V-nickel collector market stands on this type of error but the Morgan dollar market is hot for this type of error, especially on the non 1921 issues.

Nice delamination for sure. No sense of value.

Here is the reverse, I only paid $23 for it not including shipping. Thanks for the feedback, I would be lost without you since I am fairly new collecting coins

That doesn't seem too bad of a price, if you collect these. Especially because laminations of this magnitude don't come around everyday.

How much was shipping? You have to add in all costs to determine what you actually paid for the coin. Example $23 for the coin and $10 shipping. That means you would have to sell the coin for $33 just to break even.

I agree, $23 is not bad at all.

Definitely not PMD. Cool large lamination peel. As others have said, not much of a premium added, except to the right collector. Can't speak for V nickels, but for Buffalos I will happily pay a $5-$15 premium for large lamination errors, depending on size and placement.

My concern is the color, which is a bit moot at the pricepoint, but please post the in hand pics when you receive it.

Nice delamination, it's a great example for the price.
