Hi everyone! Hope all is enjoying 2022. I got a silly question. Does anyone know anything about a 1986 D penny? I have 1 with a o imprinted on it and it looks a bit doubled.

All sort of appears to be Machine Doubling and just lousy Minting from the Mint.

Well, considering that 4,442,866,698 '86 D coins were minted (under rather harsh, industrial 'high speed' conditions), there are bound to be a few examples with some issues that got into circulation.

It appears to be split plating from a contact mark from something in circulation. Not a premium for this coin if that is what your seeing. The countdown has begun and soon zinc rot will be present.

If you need to save one from this year, this one is not the keeper you are looking for.

Update on penny.. I found another person with the similar o mark on their penny. So did they use recycled planchets that year?
