Yesterday the 56th annual Hot Springs Coin Show wrapped up. I was at the front desk most of the time during the show and had not one but two very interesting things happen on Friday. The first was when a gentleman arrived with a large quantity of coins to sell from his father's collection. He told me that his father and grandfather had both been members of our coin club many years ago. He had found some brief club meeting notes his father had made on January 14, 1962, which was exactly 60 years to the day from Friday. The back of the notes had a list of all the members of the club at that time. I've included a pic of the front of the sheet. Later, a man was leaving the show and just sat a coffee cup on the table while saying "I don't have any use for this", and quickly walked away without further conversation. The cup had been made for the 1974 Hot Springs Coin Show! Needless to say, these will both be put aside for the club.

Nice. Around me people don't even say they liked the show. And I doubt anyone saves anything from one. your lucky.

Quote: The coin club needs to assemble a time capsule. I'm sort of thinking along those lines. I've only been a member a few years, just moving to this area after retirement. However, I've seen some tokens that were issued by the club over various years, as well as other club and show-related items. Several of the current members have been in the club since the '90's, so I'll probably start seeing if I can collect some of these items from the past. And maybe put out some feelers in the local community to see what else I can come across...

For the time capsule...If any of the most colorful, senior members (age wise) have old dentures, perhaps a set could be included. "Yeah, these belonged to Stan, you remember Stan, always poking fun at Morgan dollar know-it-alls."
