I have a copy of the book, "A Mercenary's Guide to the Rare Coin Market," by David Hall and he describes the 1936 satin proof as 'totally undesirable' and to avoid it. I am curious to know if others feel this way, too.

@cent, sorry for my ignorance, but can you please clarify which denomination coin you are talking about? Is this the Buffalo nickel satin proof or some other coin? Thx.

If it's the Lincoln Cent, that may be an older reference book.

I remember reading that the satin proofs weren't very popular when they came out, but I would gladly add any 1936 proof to my eclectic collection.

Being a Wheat cent, I wouldn't 'avoid it' (as recommended by Hall). I'm biased, but all wheats are desirable in my eyes.

BAH! ....to Mr.Hall. While I have great respect for him, he's wrong about the satin. There are so few 1936 proofs, I'd take either!
