Pictured here are a 1987 penny a 2006 and 2020
And one beard has a round shape the other has a sharp angle beard. And the 1987 beard is also a little different. Here is my proof.

Yes, not uncommon. The design has changed a number of times over many, many decades. One of the fun things about coin collecting.
