I'm finding the currency to be very fun and chock full of history I had no idea existed. The reverses on some of these are timeless images. Some $1 additions...

Good looking group of notes @dsfreeworld. Thanks for sharing. I love $1 U.S. banknotes. I have more $1 notes than any other denomination.

Small-size Silver Certificates are where many new collectors start. They're readily available, making them typically inexpensive and they're are many series and variations that make collecting them interesting. My favorite small-size SC is series 1934. It's a one year design different from the previous 1928E and different from the following series 1935. It's also the last series with the Funnyback design on the back. No small-size SC collection is complete without one of these.

On my radar now! Thanks for the insight.

General thoughts - when I first started collecting paper money, I wandered around, looking for "value" and things that caught my eye. It didn't take me long to realize how vast the field was, especially for large size notes, and that I'd never have enough money to own many of them if I didn't set up some achievable goals and stop buying duplicates for upgrading. I set a grade objective for all the types, series and denominations I wanted to own, with the goal of buying each note only once (with certain exceptions) and I've stuck to this plan for over four years now. Some grading goals were fairly high for common denominations (for example, TPG 66Q for the Black Eagle, but only TPG 45/55Q for the tougher notes like the Tombstones and the Rainbows. The plan is working well and I stray as seldom as possible.

Here are a few $1s bought during this period. It's nice knowing I probably won't want to upgrade. And incidentally, all have appreciated faster than similar but lower-graded examples. (From an old scanner - they are much brighter in hand).

Another notable $1 note is the note that started it all, the series 1862 $1 Legal Tender note. It was a joint effort between the National Currency Bureau and the National Bank Note Company and features the signatures of Chittenden/Spinner. It references the Treasury in New York and has a portrait of Salmon P. Chase, the Secretary of the Treasury under President Lincoln.

Super notes. Thanks for sharing them.
That 1918 National Currency note is my favourite design of all US notes, and the first large size note I ever bought!

Here is the oldest note in my stash. I don't know if this qualifies but it's a dollar note.

I have a few dollar notes, none as nice as the ones posted but a dollar is still a dollar.
