This is an example - Chinese 1 yuan. At the time when I got it, it had a face value of just 12 US cents. 2 dollars would be more profitable! David Graham Pillar of the Community Australia 1610 Posts	Posted 02/25/2022 8:39 pm I've got one of the Oz fake $2 in my collection but can't remember what date. I got it among a bag of $2 coins from the bank. Actually, it was pretty cool as I had never heard of one either. I think they hit circulation in the late 1990s. $2 did buy a lot more back then and I think it was a wise move. On close inspection one can see it's a fake but it would easily pass as genuine at pubs, festivals etc. You would easily get a sausage and soft drink at the green shed for 2 of them even today. And as people have observed, no-one would bother faking $2 so no-one would bother checking either. Quite smart really. Report this Post to the Staff
