I think possibly vf20 details. It looks like possible old cleaning, I'm not sure, is that rim damage above gratia?

No rim damage. I'll tell you this coin was graded straight by ICCS, although not sure that means much. To me it appears to have been cleaned, but I wanted to be able to look at it in hand. 30 day return on this one, which I'm contemplating.

I'm thinking F15-VF20. Some concern about hairlines based on the first photo though they don't show up on the ones with greater mag...

Silver101, noticed that in the first photos but don't see any under a loupe. It actually looks nicer than I'm capturing in the photos. But, I really don't know if it's been cleaned or not. The obv has darker areas surrounding the lettering, but not in fields. The rev has a darker toning evenly across the surface. Hoping someone with some skill at detecting cleaning on these type of coins will comment.

@wallyb - sounds good. I'm no coin photographer myself! It's a nice one regardless.

Well that's the thing with a really old cleaning. You suspect it was done, but its hard to prove. Generally, imo, an old cleaning isn't worth talking about unless its very obvious. In this case, the toning is still there and it doesn't have a cleaned look about it, so why should it matter if a third party 'thinks' it 'may' have been cleaned?

Agreed - surface damage is really the key to all of that....
