Hello all,

this is George VI One Penny 1946. I wanted to ask if it can be a machine error? Or some kind of other error? I would be glad to hear your opinions about this. Thank you :)

Sorry, it's just a damaged coin. Been on a railroad track or suffered some other indignity.

The old pre-decimal British penny, especially in the 1960s, was quite a popular plaything for kids - it was big but had a low face value. They got kicked around playgrounds, struck with hammers, stamped with punches and generally mistreated!

Impossible for that to happen when the coin was struck.
A coin cannot be out of round if it was struck in collar. PMD

As a general rule, if a coin has dents or impressions pressed into a coin - especially if there is a corresponding bulge in the other side - it's not an error, it's just been hit with something sharp and/or heavy. Here in Australia, we call the kind of damage seen on this coin "lawnmower damage", because it looks like it got caught by a lawnmower and smashed repeatedly by the blades.

Has anyone else noticed the very high number of newbies showing damaged and dented common coins and claiming they are errors lately?

This is the 3rd newbie in 2 weeks to do this.

Mods, we should have a sticky where the newbies can post all their alleged error coins in it to their hearts content and anyone wanting to help them can do it there.

As for this coin - words fail me, have they closed the schools in Lithuania?

I have an error egg. Is it worth more than the standard variety?

@Princetane, unfortunately people see coins like this on ebay advertised as "rare error" coins with asking prices upwards of $1000 and want to sell there own roadkill for similar prices.
