Doing my usual searching, I came across this coin that looks to be a "woody. All comments will be appreciated, thanks.

To the best of my knowledge, the term "woody" applies only to copper coins, generally to "wheat ear" Lincolns but also to IHC's.

Never heard of a Woody "back in the days" but sure seems to be gaining attention with some Wheat cent collectors. I'm considering tagging some of my listings with "Woody". But probably need to research the criteria first.
Rest in Peace

Roller lines aka roller marks.

https://www.coincommunity.com/dicti.../coins_r.asp

roller marks

Term to describe the mostly parallel incuse lines seen on some coins after striking. These were originally thought to be lines resulting from debris "scoring" the metal strips before the blanks were cut. However, new research has pointed to the final step of strip preparation, the draw bar. To reduce the strips to proper thickness, the final step was to pass them through the draw bar. It certainly seems logical that debris in the draw bar may cause these lines, if so, then draw-bar marks or lines would be a more appropriate term.

The woody planchet metal was not mixed properly, thus the areas are not removed when circulation continues. On roller lines, they do wear off of the coin slowly as the coins continue to do their job. (making change) Just normal coins. These lines appear on these coins after the BU finish goes away. But to show they are on the planchet from the start, notice you can see them on an off center coin.

Where the coin is struck it weakens them, but never fully go away.
