The last circulation issue San Francisco Jefferson nickel was in 1970. Even in higher grades, these are only worth a couple bucks so this one which has seen a bit of circulation has minimal value above face, but an interesting find, nonetheless! Proof coins show up occasionally in circulation, sometimes by accident but often intentionally. For instance, if I buy a silver and clad proof set and crack them open to put the coins in an album, the cent and nickel are duplicates. I'll keep the best one of each from the two sets, and probably just spend the other two as it's not worth my trouble trying to sell them. Plus, someone (like you) may find it and have it catch their attention! Member of SPMC, FCCB, ANA and ANS.
