Hello fellow coiners.... I came across this 1976 s nickel in my pocket change. Maybe it's just me, but I can't seem to find much about it. Even in here. Anything on this coin would be great.

I have no idea what you look for. I see the coin, nice pictures, and seem to be an proof coin just put in circulation. Is a spender for me.

You've found a proof nickel that someone put into circulation. The last circulation issue San Francisco Jefferson nickel was in 1970. Even in higher grades, these are only worth a couple bucks so this one which has seen a bit of circulation has minimal value above face, but an interesting find, nonetheless!

Proof coins show up occasionally in circulation, sometimes by accident but often intentionally. For instance, if I buy a silver and clad proof set and crack them open to put the coins in an album, the cent and nickel are duplicates. I'll keep the best one of each from the two sets, and probably just spend the other two as it's not worth my trouble trying to sell them. Plus, someone (like you) may find it and have it catch their attention!

I believe the OP was just seeking more information about the find, not necessarily errors.

Even a PR-68 is not a valuable coin:

Not worth sending it in to have it graded and spend $50 to get a value of $6 return for the coin.
