As I recently went through the exciting process of figuring out which coin/date/mint my 1814 960 reis was struck over, it solidified my love for overstruck coins. You get the history of two coins in one!

I collect mainly pre-1899 crown-size coins, and am looking to establish a list of known overstruck coins, something to look for at shows/online.

Here's what I know so far:
Louis XIV Ecus - (over prior ecu types)
Louis XV Ecus - (over prior ecu types)
John VI 960 Reis T. 1 - (over a lot of different coins)
John VI 960 Reis T. 2 - (mainly over colonial 8 reales)
Pedro I 960 Reis - (mainly over colonial 8 reales)
5 Shillings B.o.England Token - (over 8 reales)
6 Shillings B.o.Ireland Token - (over 8 reales)

I'd love to expand this list if anyone has more examples they know of

I think we've run into some 8 reales colonial era coins that are overstruck.
(edit: oops! I see you've got those on the list)

- Testons of the Duchy of Lorraine, 1700 - 1720 (usually struck over earlier types of same size). https://www.ma-shops.com/poinsignon...php?id=67880

- Grand DUchy of Warsaw small silver denominations struck over Prussia coins

Ah my favorite!

The most unique would be the 1804 US dollar overstruck over Swiss thaler. Believe this is class III from memory

Couple of my links of what I have

Believe the Russian ones would be most interesting.

I should have a nicer 1743 ruble overstruck over 1741 ruble somewhere...
