I'm not a fan of the self sticky ones . I use a good quality 2x2 and flat clinch staples .
Rest in Peace

with T-BOP

I don't really like the thought of adhesive being in such close proximity to a coin plus I like to be able to simply remove the two top staples if I wish to upgrade or photograph a coin.

To be honest, I do think the sticky 2x2's are a lot more 'attractive' to look at than stapled ones. There's also the plus of not having to worry about staples scratching the insides of vinyl binder sheets; which happens even with 'flat' staples.
However, I only use stapled 2x2's. Although I normally just use a new 2x2 if I need to open an already stapled one, I have re-stapled the original a few times in the past. Also, like others have mentioned, I'm not sure about the long-time effects of glue on the insides of 2x2's. I use glue now (Elmer's Glue Sticks) to attach labels to the outside of my 2x2's, but, being on the other side of the coin doesn't worry me.

Quick answer: staples.

Staples.

I tried the self-sealing type a long time ago. It was not a good time.

I prefer the self-adhesives, myself.

Woo hoo! I'm in the minority!

Stapled 2x2s do have advantages mentioned above, such as the lack of potentially suspicious adhesives, and their re-usability. I still prefer the "clean look" of self-adhesives. Plus, the staples always seem to get in the way of trying to write stuff on the 2x2. When I record country, denomination, date, mintmark, price-paid-code, collection database number, reference catalogue numbers, purchase date and who I acquired it from, any variety notes worth noting, and the recasing history if applicable, I frankly need all the writing space I can get.

Staple guy 2x2 over here.

If you cannot find a flat clinch stapler, no biggie.

Just use needle nose pliers to flatten them.
