Compared the specs (available on Numista) such as alignment, size, fonts used and edge (it is curious how many fake coins have the wrong edge) Determined if they are likely silver by specific gravity test or magnet slide test or ping test? generally crown sized coins that are silver and worth $40 or less are apt to be genuine. That aptness is reduced the greater the value of the crown. The Bavarian thaler is supposed to have an edge of: Lettering: GOTT * SEGNE * BAYERN * - * I suspect yours is missing this. Who knows if it has this edge and weighs about 18.5 grams it could be real Report this Post to the Staff
