Hello everyone, I found this Morgan at an estate sale a few months back and purchased it. I didn't really care about the condition, was just excited to add one to my collection. As I have learned more about coins I started to appreciate it more, but am still unschooled in grading, so was wondering what you all think it grades at. I've figured it to be a VAM 8 if anyone is curious. I added a picture of it in the holder it came in for fun. Haven't been able to figure out what CMCMA is, be curious if anyone else knows. Thanks, Kyle Some new and hopefully much better pics. Edited by wutdoewewant 02/20/2022 08:40 am

Nice looking coin, but can't get a good feel for the grade from these pics. to the CCF!

Probably MS-61 to MS-62 range but hard to tell from these photos.

In the holder the coin looks very nice to me perhaps MS-64+. Then the next few obverse shots look dull and washed out. Then there is the Reverse pic which makes the surfaces and fields look outstanding but the glare is a problem. Not knocking you, my photo skills leave a lot to be desired too. Photographing coins is no easy task! About the only pun I can think of regarding the CMCMA is "Collecting Morgans Causes Major Addiction"!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I think I did a better job with pictures this time, the luster really is quite nice.

the 96(P) should be sharp and bold. the hair above the ear and the eagle breast a little weak for the year. not a huge concern. the photos could be a little sharper and the angle shots do not help at all. luster looks a little disturbed on the cheek area but overall it looks there. some minor abrasion and marks enough to keep it out of MS65 territory and the coin is way better than a 62 so that leaves 63 or 64. based on the last 2 photos the eye appeal is average. I think it might come in at MS64 or at least 63+

Nice effort on the photos, I think!
In general you want to capture the coin straight on -- angled shots are useful on occasion for assessing the depth of abrasions and other surface markings, but if you're asking for a grade, zero angle is the best angle. Your straight on shots tell me MS 63.

Fingerprint, maybe, from being inserted into that holder. Looks +/- MS64 to me. Acetone might help but it's a long shot.
