Hi everyone,
I recently inherited a large box of about 4kg of Australian .50c coins.

All coins look to be aUNC to UNC, maybe with a few in lower grades

There are a dozen of the 1770-1970 James Cook Bicentenary pieces.

15 * 1788-1988 First Fleet Bicentenary pieces.

10* 1991, 25th Anniversary of decimal currency pieces

5* Millenium 50 cents (normal variety)

48* 1977 Silver Jubilee pieces

And finally about 4.5kg of 1982 Commonwealth games Brisbane pieces.

My question is are these coins worth taking the time to preserve by putting in holders etc? Or is their value over face minimal? Thanks!

I would say minimal. Maybe $2-3 UNC. Samples of UNC Bicentenary 50c sold on ebay for $4-4.50 including free postage. Are they loose in a container? There is some money to be made but not enough to make you rich. If you trade coins they may be worth more as trades than flogging on ebay. Certainly not worth slabbing in my books.

yep, all just loose in a box, here is a photo of the Commonwealth games ones for instance. By "holdering" I just meant putting in cardboard staple shut 2x2s, not sending off for grading.
Thanks,

If they were mine I would put them up on ebay as one bulk lot.
Face value reserve.

I used to keep a bunch of these but just ended up spending them.
