The only error here is the mistake someone made by losing this coin in a parking lot over 70 years ago.

. Your coin is not an error,it is PMD. It did not leave the mint like that. Value is 1¢ John1

There are no errors on your coin. Everything you see is damage of some sort. If you are going to get into collecting, suggest you learn how coins are minted and you would see that would you have is impossible to happen during the striking of the coin.

you can easily make as many of these as you want, take an undamaged cent, place on the sidewalk, then hit the coin with a hammer several times

OK thanks good to know although I doubt it has been in a parking lot the last 70 yrs because I got it from NY grandfather's collection which had been stored away for a good 40 to 50 yrs along with a 1909 s vdb and a 1955 dd and some 1943 steelies and a 1921 Peace dollarBut thank u for info it's just that I have seen some pennies from 1942 with similar marks on them going for 20 to 50,000 and they were calling the pennies errors like this 1 for 35000

Quote: I have seen some pennies from 1942 with similar marks on them going for 20 to 50,000 and they were calling the pennies errors like this 1 for 35000 They are not "going for" anything. Numbskulls are asking these ridiculous amounts hoping to find some sucker. They are not selling for that. Etsy is a cesspool of scammers and ignorance. Your coin is nothing but damaged. So is the Etsy coin. Etsy is constantly wanting to pay me to advertise for them and I keep refusing because I would never want to be associated with them.

To the CCF If you want to learn about coins, stay here for a while. Use the search tab for your questions. There is centuries of experience on this site. And nothing on Etsy is selling for 50000.00, they may ask for it but they aren't getting it. P.S. we'd love to see your 09 s vdb and 55 dd.

I and many here would be multi-millionaires of having all these so called error coins, this forum has many honest experience collectors and not here to give false information.
The best advice has been mentioned to take some time in learning the minting processes, unfortunately; many don't follow that advice. Hope to see you grandfather collections.

yes please! Would like to see the 1909, the '55 DD and the '21 peace. The coin you posted up above was massively abused and damaged. And as stated above, Etsy is just a place to get ripped off with scammers and damaged common coins.

Even on mark like on this coin, turns it into a cull coin. Just a Wheat cent now.

Etsy is quite notorious for trying to sell of damage as an error. ebay has quite a few of these too.
