JDRMCB Pillar of the Community United States 616 Posts	Posted 02/24/2022 01:21 am Penny's made after 1982 are made of copper coated zinc. It's common for the layers to become separated allowing for bubbles of gas to form between them due to the oxidation of the zinc core. Hope this helps. And Report this Post to the Staff
