Think this might be a 1999. Most of the features seem pretty well intact including the P mm. Curious as to your thoughts. Not seeing anything crazy on the obverse field to see that it was buffed down. It has wear but the P mm is still strong. Thanks.

Looks like a Struck Through Grease error. Note the devices that are fading are looking larger than normal because the grease fills the deeper areas first. When this happens the devices get larger, until the device is filled. Then nothing shows. You have both on your coin.

This is just the opposite of die polishing. When a die is polished, it removes the base of the devices. Because they are tapered, the devices get smaller and smaller with each polishing.

CoopHome: How can you tell a Grease Fill issue or a over polished die issue?
