1999 Penny. A Lot Thicker Than Other Pennies

jefferychrst New Member United States 29 Posts	Posted 03/02/2022 12:00 am I have this 1999 penny that's much thicker than a regular penny and has a very thick rim. Like I said before I'm learning and if I ask questions after your answer it doesn't mean I'm arguing with you it just means I'm trying to learn. Thanks again for any help anybody can offer. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 03/02/2022 10:38 am I've seen a few examples of these in the 1997-1999 time period. While this looks like a dryer cent, the rim was taller. You can even feel that is is taller. The weight is normal, so it is probably just a planchet that had a stronger setup proto rim. No premium for this. But they feel like they are thicker, but that is just because of the edge. Report this Post to the Staff
