I am humbled by my inability to trust images of graded coins that clearly display a counterfeit trait. My education continues with another "holy grail" coin from the inherited collection. What I see is a feeble attempt at the 6 in the date. Agreed? I am sure there is more

@old, I agree with you that the last digit in the date looks wonky. I wonder if it was originally minted in 1858 and then someone with nefarious intent got ahold of it.

I think the coin itself is genuine but someone has worked the last digit to make it look like a 6. You can see the marks around the 6

The entire coin looks pretty bad to me. I call counterfeit entirely.

Again, this coin is 100% a Chinese manufactured fake. Go to where you can purchase these, and you will see specific obvious markers.

Agreed Chinese fake. I've seen several of these with that oversized 6. They have been around for some time.
