Hello all! Another weekend, another coin roll hunt.

Just finished coin roll hunting for the weekend and this 1955-D Wheat penny stood out among other 1955-D's that I compared it with.

I compared the 1955-D coin with http://www.varietyvista.com/01a%20L...5DDDO002.htm

The "Liberty" and "1955" seems to match with "1955-D DDO-002, 2-O-IV" Stage B Photos, but not all match

Here are some pictures of the Penny:

Looks like circulation flattening to me. Also looks like a fingerprint on the obverse.

Hi John1, thanks for commenting. I noticed some circulation flattening too, on the G, which gives it a flatter wider appearance, the serif, or whatever you call the portion of the G that hooks in, looks to be legit thick.

Also, "Liberty", particularly the B and E have the same notches on the top as variety vista's pictures--the link I posted above, not certain if that means anything.

Also any areas with partial Grease Fill will also show an enlargement as the tops of the devices take are narrow will be prevented by the grease to show the narrow areas. Look for the spread on the devices first. Looking like something/markers that doesn't match, doesn't make it that die. Spread/matching locations of mintmarks help to determine the variety first, markers are secondary and useless if the variety is not there first.

@John1, I'm probably getting my terms mixed up, what I meant by notching I meant lines, but probably doesn't mean anything.

@coop, I will take your advice into consideration "Look for the spread on the devices first" -- is going to be a major challenge, but all in good fun.

Master hub issues for this year:

All the cents that year will have this issue. (both mints)

Look for the spread/separations of the hubs on the die creation process.

Thank you for the pictures coop. I've gone through soo many pictures and explanations of yours, you would think it would click and I would get it by now, LOL.

"Look for the spread/separations of the hubs on the die creation process"--I'll get it eventually, it will take some time, but I will get it.

Interesting so the lines that I was seeing on "Liberty" ('B' and 'E') were a Master Die issue, good to know.
