Lincoln's forehead PMD or damaged die? The mark has raised relief within the damaged area.

1. What does the reverse look like? If there is a push out opposite that area, it might be damage.
2. If a closer view shows an outline there might have been a struck through error with this coin.
3. If the devices are normal for that area, there may have been something covering that area for part of its life, thus it was protected on that area and the color may have been that at that time. Glue/tape/nail polish/ or something else may have prevent the current color to have been protected.

I don't see any damage on the reverse. The mark is deep. I don't believe it is the result of a covering. Leaning toward PMD after all the useful feedback.
