Hi,

Looking for expert help here since I'm pretty new to this coin collecting.

I'm encountering many coins that have fang like indentations ie 2 holes on the front or on the back of the US State Quarters.

Are these of interest to collectors or should I return those to circulation?

Thanks,
Marlies

Images would be a help to see what you have first. If they are incuse, they maybe damage to the coin. If they are on the areas on the reverse with the incuse devices, they maybe Machine Doubling. But if they are on that area of the outer loop on the ATB Quarters, there are no DDR's on those incuse devices.

Some have 3 like this and others have 2 and more round so it really looks like fang markings.

Would love to see your coins! Post each one in a topic of their own (one coin per topic please) That makes it far easier to comment and reply to questions about them.

those are made by impacts from the edges of other coins

The marks you posted in that picture looks like contact hits from other reeded coins, like quarters. The reeds on the edge of other coins can and will indent the surface of others when they fall into the collection bags at the mint and banks.
